The Australian Grain Industry Conference 2026 highlighted the importance of working together to keep Australian grain competitive, resilient, and ready for the future.
The conference theme, Thriving Today, Resilient Tomorrow, was a timely reminder that while recent seasons have delivered record crops and strong export performance, we can’t take that success for granted. Building a resilient grain industry means continuing to invest in the things that matter most – market access, efficient supply chains, reliable fuel and fertiliser supplies, and the road and rail infrastructure that keeps grain moving.
Throughout the week, the Riordan team enjoyed catching up with customers and industry colleagues, hosting international delegates for a tour of our Balliang storage facility, and sharing their expertise through two conference panel discussions.
Michelle Kerr, Executive Officer, joined the Women in Grains breakfast panel, where she spoke about the opportunities for women in the grain industry and the importance of building confidence, knowledge, and practical experience throughout your career.
Chief Operations Officer Leigh Burgess took part in the Supply Chain Productivity Enhancers and Bottlenecks panel, sharing Riordan’s perspective on improving efficiency and the practical realities of managing grain movements from paddock to port.
Thank you to Grain Trade Australia for another well-run conference. It’s always a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and work together on the issues that will shape the future of Australian grain.
