Riordan has hit the ground running in Tasmania as it settles into its new operations across the state. The recent acquisition of XLD Commodities in Powranna marks an important step for the business, and the team has moved quickly to ensure a smooth transition for local growers, customers, and business partners.
Chief Commercial Officer Mark Lewis said maintaining continuity for the region’s growers has been the key priority.
“Ensuring our Tasmanian growers and customers continue to receive the high level of service they expect is essential,” he said. “From there, we’re focused on delivering the operational efficiencies that come with more than 30 years of experience in grain handling and logistics across southeast Australia.”
As part of the expansion, Riordan has appointed Andrew Lang, Grain Accumulator, to support the integration of the local team into the wider Riordan business. Andrew has been with the company for six years, working as a grain buyer and previously across transport and logistics, he understands firsthand the realities of farming, seasonal pressures, and local decision-making.
Andrew said he’s looking forward to working with the Powranna team as the newest addition to the Riordan Group.
“Meeting our growers and getting to know customers has been a great introduction. We also held Riordan’s first official grower meeting on-site, which was a fantastic opportunity to listen, learn, and understand what matters most locally. There’s plenty to take in, but I’m excited about the opportunities for growing together.”
This week, the Riordan team also met with growers at the Southern Farming Systems (SFS) Spring Field Day in Hagley. As a Premier Partner of SFS, Riordan is committed to supporting practical on-farm innovation and strengthening resilience and sustainability across Tasmania’s grain sector.
With early momentum and strong engagement from local growers, Riordan looks forward to playing a constructive, long-term role in Tasmania’s regional communities and agricultural industry.
